Fresh from his co-write with Naomi Pilgrim on her new single “House Of Dreams”, Swedish singer-songwriter Dante returns with his first solo material in almost three years.
With nods from Elton John (who called him “the future of music”) and recording sessions with some of the world’s most respected writers, Dante scrapped two years of work and recorded his forthcoming debut album in just a week at his Stockholm apartment.
The first fruits from said album (as yet untitled), is a sweet tribute to the late Whitney Houston - titled simply, “Whitney”. Written and produced by Dante alongside Sakarias 86 (founder of Dante’s label Baseline Music), “Whitney” maintains Dante’s previous flirtations with reggae and dancehall rhythms but has a level of restraint and lightness of touch not seen on previous offerings.
Swapping the towering choruses of 2011 singles “Runners” and “What I Run From” for a more intimate feel, “Whitney” sees a more astute Dante and acts as a prime taster for what’s to follow. Listen below.
