Listen: Cuushe – Twilight [Premiere]
Super-vibey dreampop cut with psychedelic electronic blips and gloopy vocals is a combo pretty much off limits to anyone apart from Claire Boucher, but that hasn’t stopped emerging artists from trying in their droves.
Tokyo-born cuushe is one of the few who can genuinely mix it with the Faery Queen of Montreal in the Champions League of chilled beatmaking.
Three years on from debut LP, Red Rocket Telepathy, the now Berlin resident is back with ‘Twilight’, the lead track off her next full-length record, Butterfly Case.
Churning waves of synthesizer flow over a simple pattern of padded kicks and hollow clacks with cuushe’s pillowy soft vocal pawing into the final juddering, hypnotic throes. A mouthwatering taste of the gorgeous, layered electronica to come.
Butterfly Case is out on 23 September 23rd via Tokyo’s Flau.
