Fun fact: last week we were in a south London rehearsal studio, waiting for a band, when a group of well-fed Americans started pottering around in the foyer. It took a good few minutes to work out that they were part of Washington rapper Wale‘s band, and were rehearsing for their show at the Scala. A few minutes after that we discovered that The Big Pink were in the adjacent room. Just think, for a moment, about how close the world was to such a potentially cataclysmic collaboration.
Thankfully that one was avoided – and this one, with the consistently excellent Curren$y, is far more entertaining anyway. The characteristically nonchalant ‘What It Look Like’ is taken from the New Orleans MC’s forthcoming Stoned Immaculate, due out in June.
