The latest stuff coming from formerly-scuzzy London twopiece Crushed Beaks is like buying a remastered blue-ray version of an old beloved VHS tape. With all the distorted graininess stripped back, you suddenly realise all the wealth you didn’t quite know was there.
‘Breakdown’, the band’s new single on the enviably brilliantly-named (God, we wish we had come up with it) ASL Records, is a sullen gem of Smiths-esque lethargic-pop.

Crushed Beaks’ new single is out 5 November.
