Listen: Cloud Control – Dojo Rising
London-based Aussie ex-pats, Cloud Control, have debuted the first single to be taken from their forthcoming sophomore release, Dream Cave.
‘Dojo Rising’ maintains the organic feel that permeated 2011′s Bliss Release although Alister Wright’s softer, more whimsical lyrical undertones have been forsaken in favour of a staunchly self-evaluative, confessional approach. His dispassionate croons of, “shoulda probably told you from the start/but I’m lazy, and I don’t want anything” echoed back sweetly by keyboardist, Heidi Lenffer.
Gloomily lulling out altogether at the two-minute mark before biting back with a soupy whirl of guitar and brusque beats; ‘Dojo Rising’ represents a sobering – but by no means humourless – shift towards introspection from the Blue Mountains quartet.
Dream Cave is out in the UK on 16 September via Infectious.
