Listen: Close – Beam Me Up feat. Charlene Soraia & Scuba (George FitzGerald Remix)
Deep/tech/house veteran DJ and labelhead, Will Saul debuted his latest effort, CLOSE, this week, which features the vocals of London’s Charlene Soria and production magic from Scuba. Choosing to release Hotflush Records’ George Fitzgerald’s retouch before showcasing the original, we’re left with bated breath in anticipation of his release.
CLOSE’s lead single, ‘Beam Me Up’, a hollow arc of static synthesized thuds as it’s backbone, form a surprisingly perfect dichotomy for Charlene Soria’s soft flow of looped vocals, covered in a veiled haze of disco-noir. Rhythmic percussion spread thin shakes and pops around metallic clacks and digital effects rounding out this futuristic dancefloor experience.
You can hear snippets of tracks from CLOSE’s forthcoming release on his site, a deep house take on 70s disco-soul with flecks of techno, dubstep and R&B floating about. To say we’re excited about this release would be an understatement.
The “Beam Me Up” single, which includes remixes from Scuba and Hercules And Love Affair is out 23rd, April 23rd, with the Getting Closer release dropping 11th June on !K7 Records.
