Taking yet another step towards eternal greatness, Clare Maguire today reveals yet another new song – the smoky, jazz tinged ‘Black Coffee’ – a cover of the Sarah Vaughan 1949 classic.
In a similar tone to ‘Paper Thin’, the song is drenched in yesteryear; Maguire’s influences omnipresent at every turn. Channeling jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald with her impressive vocal range, the song creeps seductively against a fog of reverberating percussion and sparse piano.
Completely captivating and further confirmation of an artist completely coming into her own, don’t miss Clare Maguire’s first live appearance in over two years at this weekend’s Norwich Sound and Vision Festival. She’ll be appearing on the Best Fit x ASL Records stage alongside Pawws, Crushed Beaks and Sivu. More info on the showcase can be found here.
