Listen: Charlotte Church – Like a Fool (Delta Autumn Remix)
Birmingham-based duo Delta Autumn (although technically they’re called ∆autumn) have thrown up a thrown up a inventive curveball with the B-side of their recent debut single.
The pair - Robbie Moore and Luke Morrish Thomas – met at Birmingham Conservatoire (home to Laura Mvula and Raffertie) and meshed their love of FlyLo, James Blake and J Dilla together with a more academic grounding in jazz and classical composition.
Tackling a recent track from Charlotte Church’s Three EP, Moore and Thomas turn in a hazy late summer re-build of the slow, introspective song. It plays free and easy with Church’s vocal in a way that could easily have been perfunctory and overplayed. Instead we get a pretty delightful head-clearer that retains a cute post-chillwave tinge. Utterly incongruous for late December and all the more wonderful as a result; listen below.
