Listen: CHAMPS - "Desire" [Premiere]
Isle Of Wight outfit CHAMPS - brothers Michael and David Champion - are unveiling a new single named "Desire".
It's taken from their as-yet-untitled second LP, the follow-up to this year's lauded Down Like Gold record. "Desire" takes their brittle, iceburn post-folk sound and laces it with an electronic glory. The emotional intimacy and intensity of Down Like Gold remains, but we see post-punk basslines cavort with '80s synths on this new track. There are still bucolic bits, but they're fragmented and reformed with an evolution in their sound that shows off their pop powers.
The new track was recorded in London with producer Dimitri Tikovai and mixed at Assault & Battery by Catherine Marks. It will be released through Play It Again Sam.
CHAMPS will also be playing a rare show in London at Camden's The Stillery 2 December. Tickets are available here.
