Listen: Celebrine - "Cellar Door"
Russian duo Celebrine and collaborator Alien Delon have worked together for the eerily named album “Happy Tears”, which looks to be an overture of epic proportions, comparable to the size of their country of origin.
The happy tears appear on the cover as an ocean of psychedelic water, inundating singer Katya’s naked body, and are mentioned on the duo’s first extract off their latest albums, “Cellar Door”. The sound blends perfectly the somber tones of Black Celebration-era Depeche Mode, bleak instrumentation of late-'80s The Cure and Cocteau Twins’ thespian compositions. The duo’s academic background resonates in the track, with prodigious atmospheric instances that will make you feel like you are exploring Oymyakon in winter.
Happy Tears is out 8 December.
