Berlin via Paris electro-starlet Butterclock (aka Laura Clock) has been bubbling away under the radar for a year or more, most notably as collaborator with oOoOO on last year’s hit and miss Our Love Is Hurting Us EP in which she leant her haunting vocals to slow-burners ‘NoWayBack’ and EP highlight ’Springs’.
Back, and in a seemingly more sprightly pop facing manner, Butterclock drops ‘Holograms’ – a new song that’s to be included in the digital release of her debut EP First Prom (which got its physical release just last month via FANTASY Music).
Drenched in regret and longing, Clock’s sweet and immersive vocal chimes against a backdrop of fluttering 808′s, and distant choral synth pads. Filtering out the melancholy just enough for a lonely late night dance around an empty club. Proof that, just because love hurts sometimes, doesn’t mean you can’t dance to its failings.
First Prom is released digitally on April 15. A limited run of 200 CDs of said EP (minus ‘Holograms’) is available over at FANTASY’s store.
