New York’s Bird Call came about after vocalist Chiara Angelicola poured out her ideas and scraps of songwriting to Miike Snow and Rufus Wainwright producer, Bryan Senti. He was a fan, obviously.
One year down the line, Bird Call have a fully formed album, Will We Get To Mars, ready for release, with ‘Tao Of Love’ being the pick of the two tracks we’ve heard thus far. Blossoming with solemn church organ swells, and echoing tom tom volleys, ‘Tao Of Love’ unfurls furthermore with Chiara’s lissome caw soon becoming the figurehead of Senti’s delicate arrangement. Much like NYC counterpart, Empress Of, this rising duo delight in feeding sensitive pop melodies through an futuristic lens. Astral-pop, spaceage synthwave, whatever you want to call it, we’re falling fast for Bird Call.
Will We Get To Mars is out on 3 September.
