Belgian Fog is the project of KEXP employee and all-round-production-phenom, Robert Dale. Pieced together between shifts at the iconic Seattle public radio station, ‘Wait For Help’ is Dale’s first cut under the Belgian Fog name.
The 23-year-old LA born maestro has conjured a distinctly European sound with shuddering keyboard loops and a tender almost hesitant falsetto paying homage to both Flemish songwriter Jacques Brel and more contemporary electronic influences like M83. Impressively, ‘Wait For Help’ was recorded, mixed and mastered by Dale himself; its flickers of gleaming guitar and syncopated percussive whirrs are a true testament to his engineering guile. If this polished debut effort is a reasonable measure of his talent, we can only imagine what else Belgian Fog might have in reserve.
