Listen: Beat Connection – Balearic Trunk Rhythm
Just a little while back, Seattle-based duo Beat Connection released their debut single on UK imprint Tender Age in the form of ‘In The Water’. It was backed more than ably by b-side ‘Balearic Trunk Rhythm’ and not a moment too soon (given the fleeting delight of British sunshine piercing our so far unfazed retinas), it’s steel-drum splashing electronic pop delight has appeared online to stream.
With a far more straight-down-the-line hedonistic beat coursing through it than its parent track, ‘Balearic Trunk Rhythm’ finds the north-western Americans habituating more on an island filled with wanton levels of sun-drenched glee than their grunge-originating homeland. As it breaks down into a samba of infectious, synthesised steel drums bounding around with a bass line bopping along as if personifying a child’s first trip to Disneyland, its contagiousness appears palpable.
A track guaranteed to make any Monday seem that little easier – even if it may highlight some weekend debauchery best forgotten.
