Listen: Beach Vacation – Washington Weather
Seattle quartet Beach Vacation could be accused of worse than cashing in on the prevalence of similarly summery monikered bands such as Beach Fossils and Wavves. Although there are plenty of other acts channelling blissed-out lo-fi vibes, we’re always happy to welcome another into the fold, providing they’ve got effervescent pop tunes like ‘Washington Weather’ up their sleeves.
The standout track on their carefree shoegaze inflected Maritime EP; ‘Washington Weather’ gathers all of the sub-genre’s vital elements around a glorious reverb soaked guitar motif. Spritely strummed acoustics, pitter-patter percussion, washed-out woooaaah’s and bubbly bass each play an important part on the Oak Harbor outfit’s sunbaked breakthrough track.
The Maritime EP is out now on the incongruously wintry sounding Dufflecoat Records.
