Featuring members from Francois And The Atlas Mountains and Findo Gask, French-Scotsmen Babe regained focus yesterday as they premiered a retouched version of “Aerialist Barbette”.
Following “Tilt”, the first offering from their debut album Volery Flighty, “Aerialist Barbette” features a beautiful and eclectic mix of sounds. Elements such as frontman Gerard Black’s call and response with Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry and improvised jazzy guitar scales blend with a whole host of other styles to become a certain thing of its own.
The track’s polyrhythmic framework and suave vocal transitions will undoubtedly go down well with fans of bands like Wild Beasts and Everything Everything, the latter of which have already publicly commended Babe.
In addition to their debut, there is a Kickstarter campaign to create five short films that will accompany the album.
Volery Flighty is available 10 March via Moshi Moshi.
