Listen: Andreya Triana - "Everything You Never Had Pt. II"
The south London singer-songwriter has dropped “Everything You Never Had Pt.II”, a new track from her upcoming debut album, due sometime early 2015. Ninja Tune will also release an EP/single of “Everything You Had Pt. II” on 17 November.
The velvet-gulleted crooner has worked with Flying Lotus and Bonobo in the past, but this solo effort is considerably brassier. Swooning strings, maudlin keys and the gradual incline from glasslike ballad to soulful stomper is simply grand.
Speaking about the track, Triana has said:
“This song is the story of me and my mum, she had me at 18 and raised me as a single parent for a long time. For many years we lived in damp council houses while she struggled to make ends meet but when I look back on those times I felt like we had everything. We had so much fun as she made everything an adventure and made me believe that I could achieve anything I wanted to. I always wanted to write a song for her and to tell that story so it was an amazing feeling once I’d written it.”
