Listen: Alison Moyet – When I Was Your Girl (Brassica Remix) [Best Fit Premiere]
Following the debut of singer Alison Moyet’s video for her single ‘When I Was Your Girl’, Best Fit premieres the thumping, brazen remix of the track by UK producer Brassica.
After an 11 year hiatus and departure from the mainstream label life, singer/songwriter and former Yazoo band member (with Depeche Mode’s Vincent Clarke), Alison Moyet returns to the studio to produce a critically acclaimed eighth solo album, The Minutes.
Adding a cinematic, dark spiraling take on Moyet’s soulful original, Civil Music’s Brassica weaves stabs of vintage-sounding synth through crackling drips of effects mirroring the often dreary London weather, all the while keeping those tender words completely intact. Pulling out bits of emotion from melting ballads and carefully crafted progressions, Brassica’s fuzzy textures and sonic blips turn the thunderous beginnings of ‘When I Was Your Girl’ into a sea of endless twinkling night.
