Lightfoils' deliver euphoric shoegaze on relentless new track "This Time Is Up"
Chicago's hazy quintet Lightfoils deliver euphoric shoegaze on dizzying new offering "This Time Is Up".
"This Time Is Up" encapsulates the whirring chaos of the mind when it comes to relationships, using a battering beat and overlapping hazy guitars washed together through pedals and electricity.
Lead by vocalist Jane Zabeth Nicholson, Lightfoils fuse their relentless instrumentals with the angelic tones of Nicholson's voice to create a beautifully chaotic offering.
Complete with an intense breakdown towards the end of the track, "This Time Is Up" turns into a power rock ballad, dwelling on brooding guitar tones that become radiant with the layered vocals.
Speaking about their track, Lightfoils explain, "Utilizing frenetic beats paired with woozy guitars, this song outlines the breakup of a relationship with a dishonest partner. Anger is the main emotion, until the coda shifts to a slower denouement regarding things not said, or better left unsaid. The song is about tumultuous relationships and the residual regret.”
"This Time Is Up" is taken from Lightfoils' forthcoming album Chambers, and is revealed after earlier single "Summer Nights".
