Light Vibes' newest effort is akin to a dream where nothing is as it seems
Light Vibes, the Swedish duo comprised of Erik Klinga and Mathias Zachrisson (who you might know as members of Simian Ghost), have a hypnotic sound that will lead you down an Alice-In-Wonderland style rabbit hole.
"Kiss It Goodnight" is taken from the duo's upcoming EP entitled Following, and initially seems like something of a lullaby, gushing in with delicate, singsong synths that should usher in peaceful slumber. Yet, hidden within the gentle layered harmonies and wave-like flow lies something a bit more sinister.
As with real dreams, things don't always make perfect sense, and the middle section embraces this confusion. The song takes a dip into that that deeper part of the dream state that is even more surreal and alarming in a way that is hard to put into words. Like the Cheshire Cat's smile, it's beguiling, but Light Vibes invite you to question how much you trust them.
The duo have further impounded this sense of something more sinister with their riddled description of the the track: "Sirens are silenced and the source will lament with the sky. Are we dreaming or are we already falling, together?"
