Len Sander conjures synth brilliance on sinister new single "Saltlick"
Swiss electro artist Len Sander is sharing "Saltlick", a new single from an upcoming EP of the same name, on Best Fit.
It's a leftfield track with industrial percussion that creeps and lurks under your skin - it's tormented and twisted, with Sander's angelic vocal line serpentining through a sinister undergrowth rife with gloopy bass, pitch-shifted harmonies, and clanging electronics that sound like church bells. There are gigantic pop moments in the chorus and haunting, gothic splashes in the verses. "Saltlick" is unpredictable and exciting.
"'Saltlick' is about the desire to free yourself from your emotions and to become independent from the people around you that provoke these emotions... but then it is also about the moment when you realise that independence and emotionlessness equals death. The whole EP is a step out of the Phantom Garden, our first and previous album. We absolutely wanted to explore new musical territories and develop our sound. Also the lyrics, which are always based on my personal life experiences, changed a lot. The four songs tell stories about departure and new beginnings. "
The Saltlick EP is out via Mouthwatering Records 20 May.
