Le Voyageur's "Stomach" is classy, candid synth-pop
Andrew Fairchild's Le Voyageur deals in snappy, atmospheric synth-pop in the vein of SOHN, with all the candid observational lyrical wit of Glass Animals.
Despite describing himself as a rock musician, Fairchild's love of analogue electronics and production techniques are the overriding factor on new single "Stomach" – something he blames on Paul McCartney's Wings and Thom Yorke's Eraser. "Stomach" itself is a classy, beguiling track with endearingly self-deprecating quirks. "It's love when you're burning your breakfast/it's love when you're making mistakes/it's love when your friends think you're crazy 'cause you'd move to Jersey if that's what it takes," sings Fairchild, over delicately skeletal backing. There's nothing overstated here, and that's exactly where its strengths lie.
"The stages of love are many and diverse and equally important," Fairchild explains of the track's inspiration. "Even the couple's crisis of consciously deciding that a season of life has come to an end, and a move to New Jersey from your shack in the Village is in order."
