Listen: Lazy Day – “Oldest Friend” [Premiere]
Tilly Scantlebury—also known as one quarter of the London/Brighton-based indie-rock frenzy Hella Better Dancer—reinvigorates her solo side-project as Lazy Day with “Oldest Friend”. The dream-pop track finds Scantlebury heading out of the shadowlands and stepping into a coolly menacing limelight as it premieres today on Best Fit.
Throwing bigger punches than its heady predecessor, this equally hypnotic song pairs a forthright, ringing guitar rhythm with ever-insistent drums. Scantlebury’s voice provides a dagger-sharp focal point and builds into a cyclone of overlapping vocals that blisters and soothes all at once.
“Oldest Friend” appears in advance of Beech Coma Vol. 2, a compilation cassette and digital download slated for a 1 September release via DIY label Beech Coma on Bandcamp.
