Lately La La's "Damaged Goods" is relationship trauma told through the sweetest of indie frameworks
Sara K Gustafsson is an artist of many talents, the newest of which seems to be writing gorgeous chamber pop songs as Lately La La.
The Swede started making music while living on the south coast of England, and released her debut single "The Dream" in the second half of 2016.
Her new single, "Damaged Goods", powers along on woozy organ and martial drums, while Gustafsson's slightly arch vocal adds a sweetly matter-of-fact nature to a song which is clearly about a couple too messed up to continue with their relationship. Gustafsson tell us "'Damaged Goods' was written many years ago, but it was a song that was hard to finish. It wasn't until I dated a guy with a specific childhood trauma that I found out what the song was about. Then it was easy to write the final verses and finish it in no time!"
The track is eautifully orchestrated from start to finish yet maintains a lo-fi air, and the result means Lately La La is definitely one to keep an eye out for.
