Lancey Foux streams ambitious trap-flavoured debut EP PINK
Rarely will an artist appear with such a strong piece of musical work for a debut project, yet Lancey Foux has done just that with his debut EP PINK.
"Trapping out the emails on my iPhone" sings Foux over a piano-infused beat drawing heavy similarities between himself and many recent successful U.S. artists that have recently seen mainstream success.
What do you rap or sing about in 2015 as a young Londoner who has a bunch of creative friends, who likes to take drugs, likes girls and who’s social media savvy? Lancey Foux doesn’t just let us know but lets us experience that on PINK.
PINK takes direct and obvious influence from alternative R&B and trap that has exploded into the U.S. club scene over the past few years, with people like Future, Migos, Drake, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott.
Flows and song structure are strongly shown in Foux’s "ONCE NOT 2WICE" as an example of how the artist has created his own lane for this sound in the UK. It’s not often that young artists will innovate their own lane before they’ve put out a project, usually taking a couple of projects to find their sound, but it seems Foux has found his path and is sticking to it.
In the new generation of the ‘Soundcloud’ artist, Lancey Foux has definitely found his niche and has delivered a solid project with PINK, resonating a certain sound that is refined and sonically pleasing as if Lancey has had years of mainstream success already.
