Nordic duo Kyo return with the pulsating, experimental ambient sound of "Universal Audio"
Featuring Hannes Norrvide of Lust For Youth, Copenhagen-based duo Kyo are back with the first track from their forthcoming third album.
Alongside fellow experimentalist Frederik Valentin, Kyo have released a couple of albums of music mixing jazz, synthpop and ambient noise which is both challenging and surprisingly accessible.
"Universal Audio" begins with muttered voices low in the mix, surrounded by bouncing speaker buzz which creates an unsettling haze. Out of this comes gorgeous piano chords, falling like droplets of rain before being overtaken by an intensely throbbing synth which recalls the creepier moments of Stranger Things. Just as the track builds to a crescendo of noise, it cuts dead, leaving a void. It's a thrilling assault on the senses.
