Listen: Kwabs – “Last Stand”
A little while back, creative talent Kwabs dropped a YouTube video revealing his cover of James Blake’s “The Wilhelm Scream”. His gorgeously smokey, rich, warm voice blew many minds; his unique version offering a stunning take on the already beautiful track.
While many have found themselves completely enraptured by SOHN’s strikingly chilling productions; his standout track “Red Lines”, on The Wheel EP, revealing an equal degree of control, and command, of emotion.
A collaboration between the two artists has culminated in the haunting single, “Last Stand”. Londoner Kwabs’ vocal execution borders on flawless. His deep, layered tone and sheer range is delivered with an immense degree of passion and sentiment. Set against SOHN’s refined, minimal electronic production, “Last Stand” offers an epic crescendo which manages to harness the same level of dramatic energy as Blake’s “Retrograde”. Kwabs’ voice and delivery is something to get lost in, to become immersed in. A truly incredible, moody, contemplative stunner of a track.
