Dance in the misty moonlight with Kudu Blue's new progressive offering "Auras"
Brighton-based Kudu Blue deliver a sensual, progressive dance number with intricate new single "Auras".
"Auras" is an eclectic mix of atmospheric house and liquid drum and bass, just without the trance tempo. Kudu Blue utilise their shapeshifting abilities to move with colourful lights of the night, dipping in and out of soulful vocals and a whispering, sensual monologue.
"It’s been over a year and a half since we last put out any music and during that time we’ve really grown as a band," says vocalist Clem, "I think "Auras" as a track is like a window into the future of our sound. "Auras" for us represents change. A new trajectory which takes influence from much broader and more eclectic sounds. It makes me envisage lots of people dancing in a jungle at night under strobe lights."
Teaming their progressive track with a meticulously layered beat, Kudu Blue move elegantly through different spaces, linking their transformation through a bass-fuelled melody. Kudu Blue even manage to add tropical tones to their new offering, with distant "yeah yeah's" from vocalist Clem that gracefully blend into the layered rhythm like rolling waves crashing against the shore.
Clem explains their peaceful, yet intricate offering further, ""Auras" is about being straight up about the things you want, accepting the things that are out of your control and finding the positives in situations that might present themselves as a challenge."
She adds, “It was inspired by Faithless "Insomnia" and Michael Jackson style of harmonies and the production of Romare. It was a bit of a pain in the arse track at the start to know where we wanted to go with it. We had the time pressure of taking it from an instrumental idea to a finished track within 48 hours so it’d be ready to pitch as part of our EP. Working in that way was actually refreshing because usually it can take months and months to finish a tune and can end up overworking it. This was deffo the track we’ve made in the least amount of time. And my favourite from the EP.”
Kudu Blue's return is a neon-tinged party in paradise, and we definitely want a one-way ticket to wherever they are.
