Kit Major is more than ready for her subjects on metal-inspired pop colossus "Scene Queen"
An empowering anthem, get ready to rage with Chicago-raised, LA-based Kit Major's latest experimental offshoot.
Taking cues from Rina Sawayama and Poppy, Kit Major is another pop star adding crushing metal guitars to pop music which demands attention. Her latest track "Scene Queen" is her boldest to date and follows a string of singles which fall somewhere under the hyperpop bracket.
Written in "what felt like five minutes," Major found kindred spirits in fellow queer songwriters and producers Liz Gavillet and Slow Dance who helped make the track. In their first session togerh, Major explains "[Slow Dance] played me a track that was scratched from their EP they had previously planned to release that was originally called, “Seen Queen”."
Her first time writing time writing to an instrumental and with a handful of other people in the room, Major gushes "this song makes me feel like a rockstar and fucking queen of the world. I hope it gets other people hyped and feeling good about themselves too."
While the new single's writing and production are admirable and inspiring, it's Major's vocal delivery which seal the deal as she fiercely struts through the track with an unapologetic brashness that commands you to listen.
