Oldham teen Kiran Leonard saw his stock skyrocket following a rather glowing Pitchfork review of his rough-edged pop diamond, ‘Dear Lincoln’ earlier this year.
Kiran’s ambitious new double LP, Bowler Hat Soup is out 4 November. On the same day, Kiran’s ‘Port-Ainé’, drawn from the record, will also be released. An exultant, complex pop ditty punctuated by his quivering, near-falsetto thrum, ’Port-Ainé’ builds on foundations of clunky toms and murmuring church organ before leapfrogging into scatty crashes and squiggled guitar curlicues, evoking images of Kiran racing from one instrument to the next like some demented arachnid polymath.
