Kinky Love leaves the bedroom for some nightlife on the insistent "Ten Seconds"
Well, what a difference a few months make. It’s no secret we have a soppy crush here at Best Fit on Chicago synthpop trio Kinky Love, which isn’t necessarily indicative of our bedroom preferences….
Whew! The trio’s first releases were true to their namesake – pulsing, sultry, and seductive. Not ones to get too comfortable wrapped up in their silk sheets, Kinky Love is back with a new EP, Love Label, due this September and, this time around, inject some friction and urgency into the mix.
Their second and latest single, “Ten Seconds”, is a full on kinetic groove, driven by a relentlessly syncopated drum beat. Vocally, Wise ramps her signature coo up a notch to mirror her band mates’ insistent tempo. While previous outings were well-suited for the intermittent slow jam at the club, “Ten Seconds” is bursting with strobe-laden energy.
The band kick it into overdrive in the final minute, like rocketing down Chi-Town’s Lake Shore Drive, bound by glistening skyscrapers on one side and the open expanse Lake Michigan on the other.
