King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard veer through the whimsical with "Paper Mâché Dream Balloon"
They've already released one album this year, and now they're raring to go with their second. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are back, with Paper Mâché Dream Balloon set to be released in November.
Never ones to stick to conventions, with their new offering King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have veered into the whimsical. Breezy flute harmonies and soaring vocals soar and spiral enchantingly, painting a picture that's at once idyllic and audacious. Spritely and adventurous, the album's title track sounds like it should be accompanying a vintage children's TV show.
"No electric instruments, just acoustic guitars, flute, double bass, fiddle, harmonica, drum kit, clarinet... whatever we could find really," frontman Stu Mackenzie said of the new record. "We recorded it mostly in an empty shipping container on my parent’s farm in country Victoria. It was all horses, emus, and tim tams."
Paper Mâché Dream Balloon is released on 4 November via ATO Records.
