Los Angeles-born singer Avriel Epps is hardly a newcomer, but now she’s taken on the moniker King Avriel to release her new music. The smooth, clicking “Prelude” is the type of pensive record that’s sure to have you rethinking your previous relationships.
Falling in line with the recent surge of RnB singers, King Avriel joins the company of blogger’s darling Kelela, angelic crooner Jhené Aiko and recent bloomer SZA. “Prelude” features minimalist production courtesy of MILESNATIVE, and is quite a beautiful, contemplative record that hopefully foreshadows more impressive songs to come.
MILESNATIVE also produced the lovely, warm backdrop on “Failed Messiah,” where she softly sings, ”I would say no new friends, but I’ve outgrown my old ones.” It’s a more alternative record you can stream on her SoundCloud.
