Kid Cupid have their ducks in a row on driving new single "Better"
"Better" is the first taste of London-based Kid Cupid's forthcoming debut EP, and its rich guitar-pop is as good a statement of intent as any.
With appropriately cherubic vocals set to a broody, driving backdrop, "Better" is the welcome follow-up to last year's "Easy", the latter of which is a similarly articulate pop track dressed up in an altogether hazier feel. "Better" is more direct: the sound of a band with their ducks in a row, ready to take on the world right out of the starting blocks. It sets a forthright tone for the Unholy Ceremony EP, with silky smooth vocals cascading over its rolling drums and noodling guitars .
With a show at Brixton's Ritzy later this month, Kid Cupid are already making waves in an indie-pop sphere that previously seemed oversaturated. Somehow they find something new to bring to the table, offering an urgency and authenticity that are bound to get them noticed.
