Kid Bloom takes us on a toe-tapping trip on his new single “Lemonhead”
Grab your skates! ‘Coz we’re off to the roller disco in the retro-pop stomp of Kid Bloom’s “Lemonhead”.
Taken from the brand new EP of the same name, which is released in full today, “Lemonhead” is the perfect marriage between 80s pop and contemporary indie. As with all great throwback tunes, it captures the era with a sincere lack of irony and a knowing twinkle in the eye, with only a sprinkle of cheese for seasoning.
The brainchild of Los Angeles native Lennon Kloser, Kid Bloom is more solo passion project than it is a collaborative effort, the entire writing and production process brewing on Kloser’s laptop. The fourth single to be shared from the EP, “Lemonhead” shows a brighter angle to the project, opting to replace the moody, bittersweet tones of “EVRWNDR” and the lackadaisical swagger of “Sugarcoat” with a toe-tapping beat, euphoric liberation and thoroughly audacious riffing.
Despite the feel-good nature of the track, both the EP and the single are some of what Kloser considers the most personal work he has ever written, “Lately when I write I’ve been trying not to immolate or be derivative and just allow myself to speak,” he says of the process.“‘Lemonhead’, was inspired by a self reflection period in my life where I completely drained myself of love and let my morals stray a bit too far from me.”
