Kevin George soundtracks your next breakup on impressive new offering "Over"
After making waves with previous singles "High Like This" and "My Crew", the Connecticut-based artist reveals another side to his songwriting ability with his brilliant new song "Over".
Kevin George may only be 20 years old, but he has already more than proved that he has something very exciting to offer. With "Over" we see a much more tender and relatable side to his songwriting, where he exquisitely illustrates a relationship breakdown as the track follows a dialogue between two lovers that have reached the end of the line.
"Over" is still deeply imbued in everything that we've so far come to associate with George's already signature style - the deep bass lines, the effortlessly cool delivery and the stark beats are all distinctly present.
The song comes in the lead up to the release of George's debut project entitled LOVELAND, which will no doubt propel the young creative to new heights. We grabbed a few words with the artist to find out more about how he wrote the new song and the greatness that we can still expect from him.
BESTFIT: "Over" has a different feel to it from the music we've heard so far, how did it come into being and how did you begin writing it?
Kevin George: Each song on LOVELAND has a different feel to it. Honestly, my favourite thing to do in my music is experiment.
What does the writing process involve for you? What really inspires you to write?
The process in writing was spontaneous. Lyrics, for me, are always inspired by the first sound, the first chord progression that makes me feel something special. The music inspires my melodies which reveals the story and lyrics.
The video for 'Over' turns the song into a dialogue between two lovers nearing the end of their relationship, can you tell me more about who directed it and what the idea behind it was?
It's a conversation. It's my version of the "we have to talk" conversation in song form. It's the thoughts I feel almost every man or woman thinks when they just want out in a relationship. It was directed by Vizual-Eyes & shot by Jack Rosenfeld.... For the video, we wanted to convey this in the most simplistic way possible.
Your music is receiving a lot of coverage at the moment, does the prospect of becoming a big name excite you?
Of course! The goal when I release my music is for the world to have it, feel it & cherish it. I want the songs to become soundtracks to millions of lives. I put real energy into the songs.. It means a lot to me to see others connect with that energy.
2018 is already shaping up to be pretty massive for you, what more can we expect?
Expect greatness, inspiration .. and just a bunch of fun man.
