KennyHoopla and Travis Barker deliver a sharp pop-punk romp with “ESTELLA//”
Cleveland-born alt rocker and soon-to-be punk superstar KennyHoopla collaborates with Blink-182 legend Travis Barker on the rip-roaring and volatile “ESTELLA//”.
For some, winter is the season of warm jumpers and reflecting on the last twelve months; for others, it’s a time for finding a new coping mechanism to get you through the cold, dark evenings. If your idea of the perfect therapy session is screaming a roaring rock chorus at the top of your lungs, then KennyHoopla and Travis Barker’s “ESTELLA//” might just be what you’re looking for.
It’s a lifetime’s worth of rip-roaring angst condensed into the form of a new-classic pop-punk song. A soaring chorus is twinned with distorted guitars and a lyrical theme that’s most kindly summed up as feeling a bit miffed (“I just die / at the thought of being alive / at the same time as you”). Travis Barker’s trademark percussive power drives it home with a series of drum fills that feel like they’re penetrating every fibre of your being.
With KennyHoopla set to support YUNGBLUD and You Me At Six on select dates of their respective UK tours next year, it seems safe to bet that this punk-rock prodigy isn’t going away any time soon.
