Keiandra offers icy, barren beauty on debut single "Wanted"
Wafting in just as the cold, dry breezes of December have come upon us, 18-year-old singer-songwriter Keiandra of Newcastle offers us a promising slice of her haunting folk with “Wanted”, the lead single from her upcoming debut EP.
Just as Daughter had with their debut LP two winters ago, Keiandra taps an icy, barren vein of ambient folk but more replete with dream pop’s discordant, yet soothing hallmark rush of noise and atmosphere drifting amidst and around it.
Having just picked up guitar several years ago, Keiandra counts Suzanne Vega’s artsy folk-inflected style as her primary inspiration. One can also easily tab her as a peer of the equally haunting Marika Hackman hearing Keiandra’s vocals soar and dissolve into her own ether at “Wanted”s climax.
Look for Keiandra’s debut EP Empty Palaces to appear in early 2016, while “Wanted” is currently available digitally at iTunes and via stream below.
