"Gilly" is another shimmering delight from Kate Teague
With her latest offering, the Mississippi artist gets more personal than ever before as she offers a helping hand to a friend in need.
Kate Teague is fast becoming one of the most exciting rising artists around, consistently delivering beautifully-crafted songs that flourish with captivating melodies and honest lyricism.
Having first caught our attention with "Low Life" and "Good To You" earlier this year, her third solo outing is another equally stunning example of the strength of Teague's songwriting skill.
Teague once again exhibits her eviable knack for blending whimsical, slacker-rock guitars with heartfelt lyrics as she speaks out to a friend who needs consoling. It sees Teague draw from her personal experience and convince her loved one that there is hope to be found within the pain as she sings "Tomorrow's man will be all in".
"A loved one of mine was going through a difficult time while living away from most of her friends/family" says Teague on the track's origins. "I wrote this in an effort to make sense of the pain she was experiencing, and to console her considering I couldn’t be there for her in person.”
Beguiling and beautiful, "Gilly" ultimately just acts as another reminder that Teague is one to watch.
