Listen: Jungle – “Lucky I Got What I Want”
Mysterious, secretive and achingly cool, Chess Club Records duo Jungle have just released yet another silky smooth track.
From the unbelievably addictive “Drops” to the chilled, disco-fuelled “Platoon”, latest piece “Lucky I Got What I Want” suggests the pair are incapable of putting a foot wrong.
Their layering of synth and vocals, with a deep undercurrent of simple but strong percussion, seems to be a perfect recipe for overtly laid-back vibes. Both dreamy and focused, this track boasts a mad-catchy hook and emits some seriously relaxed undertones. Jungle create an immense depth of sound on “Lucky I Got What I Want”; repetitive lyrics and an overlay of voices make it entirely encapsulating.
Just tipped by NME Radar as one of the most exciting British bands of 2013, it is clear Jungle’s debut EP, set for release late October, is to be widely anticipated. And rightly so, for there is a true distinctiveness about this lot’s original and stunningly delicious sound, which sets them miles apart from the rest.
