Joseph J. Jones mashes Kanye's "Love Lockdown" and "Blood On The Leaves" into one gorgeous ballad
Essex-based newcomer Joseph J. Jones is sharing a soulful mash up of Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" and "Blood On The Leaves".
"Blood Lockdown" has lush, dreamy electronics and dawn-rise keys - it's bright and frosty in places, with shimmering synths and drowsy samples marbled together. Jones' stunning voice is front and centre when the beat kicks in proper - there's no sign of Ye's robo-vox here, with Jones preferring to use his phenomenal pipes to knock you flat.
"Always been a big fan of Kanye since the days of Graduation," says Jones. "Me and my producer, Rich Frenneaux, decided to have a play around in the studio with some of Kanye's songs. There wasn't any plan to put anything out but 'Blood On The Leaves' and 'Love Lockdown' worked well so we tried to do something a bit different and develop them hand in hand to work as one. I always loved 808s and Heartbreaks but when Yeezus come around it was a game changer for me and made me look at the way I approach things in the studio. This is me adding a little soul and paying tribute to Yeezy."
Jones has also produced the excellent artwork.
