John Joseph Brill reveals tender folk single "The Grape and The Grain" [Premiere]
London-born singer/songwriter John Joseph Brill has is debuting new single "The Grape and The Grain" on Best Fit.
Brill released his first short-player, Pieces, to acclaim at the start of 2015. "The Grape and The Grain" is the first taste of his next project, which will arrive following a hectic summer of touring, and is available now as a free download.
"The Grape and The Grain" is a gorgeous, heart-rending cut full of lo-fi guitar twinkles and raw-throat vocals. It's not the kinda tune you probably want to put on if you're feeling a bit delicate...
Talking about the song, Brill says: "It's a very personal song about loss. The loss of a lover, the loss of a future but at the same time its tinged with hope. That naïve, yet charming hope that maybe, just maybe if I don't think about it for long enough then the fucked up thing might not happen. "
Brill's second EP, recorded at Liverpool's Elevator Studios, is expected in the new year.
