Vulfpeck collaborator Joey Dosik shares instrumental bonus track "Gentle Giant"
Multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist Joey Dosik is a unique talent whose ability to create warming, vintage-tinged melodies set him apart from the crowd.
Game Winner was an EP first released back in 2016 that explored Dosik’s passion for basketball and brought together his love of the sport and his highly individual style into delicate songs that act as a beacon of light in the darkness. The LA-based musician has now added four new songs to the beautifully crafted original collection and the wonderful "Gentle Giant" is amongst these new additions.
The 2 minute piano solo is a snippet of pure loveliness that perfectly illustrates Dosik’s impressive virtuoso piano playing ability and seems to twinkle with LA sunshine as he expertly flutters on the piano keys. Yet, his real talent is the way in which he is able to take something that could perhaps sound as though it belonged to a bygone era and make it sound fresh, original and startlingly interesting.
The whole EP features smooth, jazz undertones that are overlaid with his cool vocals which are at once as gentle as his slinky piano playing but as enticing as the heat of the LA sun.
Joey Dosik will play London's Jazz Cafe on 16 May.
