Jockstrap deliver enchanting romanticism on obscure pop offering "Joy"
London's Jockstrap have shared new cut "Joy" alongside news of their debut mini-album Love is the Key to the City.
Jockstrap arrived last month with their sumptuous debut track "Hayley".
"Joy" arrives as another lustful track, opening and embracing a bed of strings that follow the angelic vocals of Georgia Ellery.
Swirling elegantly with an alluring tone, "Joy" soon evolves into a vibrant pop number led by the bright synth bops and offbeat passages of speech that bring the fairytale beginning to a more realistic end.
The fusion of timeless orchestral romanticism with the abrupt, modern electronica is a difficult task. Jockstrap take the challenge in their stride, mixing the ethereal swirling strings with the youthful and playful electronica, further projecting the duo and their eclectic sound.
"Joy" arrives with visuals created by Ellery herself. Explaining the new offering further, she explains, "I’d describe it as an ethereal and impressionist prelude that cuts to a quirky love rap. The video comes from the same place as the lyrics do. They share, with the music, this golden, pink and hazy beige colour. It’s all very sensory.”
"Joy" arrives with news of their first mini-album Love is the Key to the City.
Spanning six tracks, Love is the Key to the City will include Jockstrap's debut single "Hayley".
