Jaguar Sun unveils nostalgic and dreamy new cut “Those Days”
Taken from the upcoming album This Empty Town, “Those Days” - the latest offering from Ontario-based Chris Minielly, aka. Jaguar Sun - muses on nostalgia and sentimentality.
The brainchild of multifaceted and experienced multi-instrumentalist Chris Minielly, Jaguar Sun’s latest offering “Those Days” encompasses a wave of gentle, shimmering soundscapes, intertwined with pared-back acoustics. Vocally, Minielly uses his subtle voicing to wash over the production, while his lyrics lay the foundation for the sentiment of the track.
Taking inspiration from bands such as STRFKR, Youth Lagoon and Panda Bear, Minielly’s music fuses dreamlike soundscapes with alt-pop. The Ontario-based artist boasts a flair for instrumentation, effortlessly balancing layered guitars with synths and vocals - a great example of how his artistic autonomy shines through when making creative decisions.
The even spacing between instrumentation and vocals in “Those Days” is a prime example of this, as Minielly allows each element to shine through and coexist equally, creating a sublime sound. The music video for “Those Days” fittingly compliments the message conveyed in the single with its lo-fi vibe and collage of visuals; it is bound to resonate with Minielly’s audience beyond the sound alone.
“‘Those Days’ is a bittersweet remembrance of old relationships and nostalgic summer trips,” Minielly explains of his new single. "It’s a song about holding onto old memories just long enough before you let them go and move on.”
