Indonesia's Stars and Rabbit channel the spirit of Joanna Newsom on "Man Upon The Hill"
Indonesian indie-pop twosome Stars and Rabbit are sharing "Man Upon The Hill", a new song channelling the spirit of Joanna Newsom.
Stars and Rabbit, featuring vocalist Elda Suryani and multi-instrumentalist Adi Widodo, fuse dreamy melodies with lush instrumentation on "Man Upon The Hill" to create a truly spectacular piece of forward-thinking folk. It's a gorgeous mesh of rising strings, rustic riffs, and soaring threads of sound - Suryani and Widodo use every weapon at their disposal here, knocking you off your feet with seismic shifts in structure and dynamics.
Suryani uses her voice, which recalls the unique brilliance of Newsom and Björk, to tell a "whimsical folk tale about a man on top of a hill who is accepting reality, letting go of his past, and moving on."
