Immix Ensemble and Vessel drop new collaborative track "What Hath God Wrought?"
Immix Ensemble and Vessel have revealed their first joint track "What Hath God Wrought?" ahead of a new project.
The two acts are set to release collaborative 12" Transition this Spring. Transition is part one in a new series, and features four compositions focusing on the theme of technology.
Immix Ensemble and Vessel look to explore a unique facet of musical instruments. The press release explains: "Instruments are a somewhat technological anomaly in that they are rarely updated after their conception... as such, each instrument provides us with a snapshot of the cutting edge technologies of a particular time and place – in this sense, the instrumentation used by Immix provides us with snapshots of technologies that can be traced back as far as 1500BC."
Using these "snapshots", the musicians explore a "significant invention or discovery that took place at around the same time as the invention and development of these instruments".
The Immix Ensemble was founded by Australian composer/saxophonist Daniel Thorne, and is based in Liverpool.
Transition is released on 18 March via Erased Tapes, and followed by live shows (TBA). Further instalments will feature the Immix Ensemble partnering with other "forward-thinking" artists.
