Husky Loops inject heart into robotic riffs on ferocious new single "Tempo"
London-based art-rock trio Husky Loops are sharing "Tempo", a new preview of their self-titled debut EP.
The Italian-born group melt abrasive post-punk basslines with mechanical motoriks - "Tempo" is a scratchy, abrasive jam with robotic overtones and synthetic elegance, but there's an unmistakeable smoothness to be adored in the vocals and chorus. Despite the angles and jutting-out shards of sound, it's still a very lush, real-sounding track with plenty of soul to gorge upon.
"'Tempo' is a song about running out of excuses and time, recorded live to capture the bands' live energy," say Husky Loops. "The inexorable flow of life was of inspiration to compose a track which is defined by repetition and awkward patterns, in which groove is the key."
The band, who've played with Yak, Sunflower Bean, and more, will be performing at a bunch of dates this spring - including a few across the channel with The Kills. Check out their full tour diary.
