Watch: Hundreds - "Our Past" [Premiere]
If, for some unfortunate reason, you missed our rather glowing review of German duo Hundreds’ wonderful sophomore album, Aftermath, we here at Best Fit are pleased to premiere the video for one of the album’s centerpiece tracks, “Our Past”.
As is clear from Eva Milner’s words, the song is about ending a relationship and how time perpetually forges ahead, leaving us no option but to keep up with and accompany it to survive. Milner’s vocals both convey the wistful sincerity of reminiscence and dogged determination of one confronting an uncertain future as she is backed by a propulsive beat of tom-toms and synths.
The accompanying video portrays what appears to be a father with his son escaping their life and moving on to an unknown future together. Perhaps it’s even a man accepting his past, personified as the child, and moving forward. Either way, the video captures the simultaneous joy, relief, fear and frustration in even the mundane in traversing a new and hazy path.
You’d be well advised to get acquainted with Aftermath, out now on Sinnbus.
