Hudson Scott airs his synth pop sensibilities with the stellar "Triangle"
It marks a welcome return for the South-East Londoner after a two year absence following his triptych of 2016 singles "Panning For Gold", "Get Down" and "Clay". Building on the previous analogue tones and funk rhythms, "Triangle" fleshes out Scott’s vision and transfigures his sound to unprecedented arenas.
Gone are the nostalgic notions of prior outings; "Triangle" catapults to futuristic places on the back of Scott’s jazz machinations. Brass and piano intertwine effortlessly with synth and rumbling bass, blending to a concoction that fizzes with energy and an emotive bitter streak.
"'Triangle' is a song about crumpled emotional wreckages, being taken for a fool and realising you’re the small side of an isosceles,” explains Scott. “I wanted to put across that when there’s pain; fighting and screaming can be another way of hiding."
Such contradictions are par for the course, Scott moonlighting as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whilst holding down a day job as a carpenter. Perhaps it is these conflicting idiosyncrasies that have enabled him to pave a trail deviating from the beaten path.
